    Australian Travel Numbers on the Rise

    PASSENGER figures at Australia's airports are growing solidly again after the downturn caused by last year's aviation industry crisis.  Airports in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Darwin and Alice Springs all reported good growth in overall passengers numbers for the financial year just ended.  Melbourne Airport full-year domestic passengers numbers exceeded 15million for the first time.

    At Perth Airport, domestic passenger numbers were 14.8 per cent higher in financial year 2004 and international passengers up 9.6 per cent to see total passenger numbers rise 13.2 per cent to just over 6 million.  Darwin also saw a big fourth-quarter boost in international, travel, with passenger numbers a third ahead of the previous year.  The forcast for Australian Travel Agents is rosy and looks like it will be a busy year for all the travel staff.
